Sitzfleisch......

PRONUNCIATION:
(SITZ-flaish, ZITS-)

MEANING:
noun:
1. The ability to sit through or tolerate something boring.
2. The ability to endure or persist in a task.

My first impression of the word was that it's a synonym for patience. And maybe in some sense, it is. But it's certainly a more powerful word - it sounds powerful and it means a lot more. It's probably what defines the difference between a winner and a loser. If one has the ability to sit through daunting or boring or mundane or menial or a ball-breaker (i like that word), it could mean that s/he has conquered that task. Think about it, a boring job is not easy to do really and even though many may attempt it, only the one with sitzfleisch will complete it! hmm....

This post is so damn boring, I almost fell off to sleep while writing it. May be my sitzfleisch (or rather the lack of it) helped me finish it.
